Applied Economics, VUB

The research in the Department of Applied Economics (APEC) is essentially focused on the application of microeconomic and macroeconomic theories to a multitude of phenomenons in society: the functioning of firms, states and non-profit organisations, the economics of politics, economic growth, international trade, social capital, e-commerce, network economics, and experimental microeconomics are currently under investigation. Interdisciplinary research is favoured, and purely theoretical work is not excluded. Full-time professors affiliated to the department are Benny Geys, Luc Hens, Bruno Heyndels, Marc Jegers, and Leo Van Hove.
